Graymatter review: a plant-based nootropic drink built for desk work
Graymatter at a glance
Graymatter Labs is an American supplement company built around a single formula, a plant-based nootropic drink mix called Bright Mind. Co-founder and chief executive Jim Phillips describes burnout and stimulant crashes as the starting point, and says the formula was put together with a second co-founder and a PhD molecular biologist. The catalogue is deliberately narrow: one powder, three flavors, two formats, plus a frother and a storage canister. We read Graymatter as a one-product company that has poured everything into a single label rather than spreading itself across a range.
What does Graymatter sell?
The shop is short enough to list in full:
- Bright Mind in a bag, the scoop format, in Strawberry Lemon, Tangerine or Cacao
- Bright Mind Travel Packs, the same formula in single-serve 8 g sachets
- Bright Mind Twin Pack, two containers bought together
- Aero Blend, a rechargeable electric frother sold on its own
- A storage canister for the powder
Bright Mind facts and price
A bag lists at $78.99 on the official store, billed in US dollars. The Supplement Facts panel sets the serving at roughly half a scoop, 4 g, or a full scoop, 8 g, which works out at 40 or 20 servings per container rather than the thirty days the marketing suggests. One full serving carries around 75 mg of plant caffeine drawn from green tea, three calories and no carbohydrates. Flavor choice does not change the formula.
What the 27-ingredient claim actually means
Graymatter advertises 27 actives in four named blends: Brain X at 1,855 mg, Go Blend at 1,340 mg, Flow Blend at 1,150 mg and VisionDefense at 25 mg per full serving. Those four totals are published. The individual amounts are not. Nitrosigine, Alpha GPC, lion's mane, ashwagandha and rhodiola all sit inside a proprietary total, so nobody buying the product can check whether any single ingredient reaches the amount used in the research the brand points to. Graymatter also leans on unusually strong performance language, from a promise of results without a prescription to user percentages published without a source, and we separate that language from what the label actually states.
Travel Packs and the wider range
Travel Packs hold the identical 8 g formula in sachets, sold in fives at $19.99, tens at $39.99 and twenties at $78.99. The twenty-pack and the bag cost the same for the same number of servings, so the choice between them is convenience rather than value. The Twin Pack sits at $149.99 against a $158.00 reference price, the canister at $32.99 and the Aero Blend frother at $19.99.
Quality, sourcing and transparency

- Contains soy, carried by the phosphatidylserine and declared on the panel
- Certificates of analysis are not published on the product page
Graymatter promo code and price
Our code SFDJTFMM takes 17% off, which brings a bag from $78.99 down to $65.56 and a ten-pack of sachets from $39.99 to $33.19. The honest caveat is that Graymatter's own offers are bigger: the store front-loads a Starter Kit at $39.50, half price on a first order with free shipping and a free frother, and the subscription runs at 35% off every delivery, or $51.34. SFDJTFMM is the better route only for someone who wants one order and no subscription.
US shipping and returns
Graymatter ships from the United States and says orders leave within one business day. Free carriage is advertised for subscriber members, not for one-time buyers: on a single bag to New York we were quoted around $10 for standard delivery in 3 to 5 business days and about $20 for express. The store also prices in pounds for the United Kingdom, where international carriage started near $27 before import charges. Returns run 30 days from the order date on unopened items only, with return postage paid by the buyer. An opened bag is taken back only on a first subscription order, and only after 20 days from delivery.
Our Graymatter verdict
Bright Mind fits someone who wants one cognitive drink instead of four bottles, who will drink it daily, and who accepts a subscription to reach a fair price. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs per-ingredient amounts published, who reacts badly to 75 mg of caffeine, who avoids soy, or who expects a genuine satisfaction guarantee on an opened product. At $78.99 it is the most expensive daily formula in our catalogue.
