PureTea review: French tea, Japanese matcha, and Philippine ube
PureTea is an independent French beverage brand founded by longtime friends Ben and Alex. Its catalog combines traditional loose-leaf tea with modern café-style ingredients, including Japanese matcha, Philippine ube, blue botanical powders, rooibos, fruit infusions, bubble-tea ingredients, snacks, and accessories.
The range is built around flavor and visual appeal as much as wellness. Tea can contribute caffeine and plant compounds, but broad detox, metabolism, immunity, or no-crash claims should not be treated as guaranteed medical effects.
What does PureTea sell?
The current collection includes:
- Black and green loose-leaf teas
- Herbal and fruit infusions
- Pure and vanilla Japanese matcha
- Philippine ube latte powders
- Bubble-tea pearls, snacks, whisks, bowls, and preparation tools
Tea comes from Camellia sinensis and naturally contains caffeine. Rooibos and herbal infusions are generally caffeine-free unless another caffeinated ingredient is added. Ube is a purple yam ingredient and is not the same product as matcha.
Pure Matcha Ceremony
The flagship Pure Matcha Ceremony is a 50-gram pouch of organic Japanese matcha listed at €27, with 100 g at €52. The brand describes it as first-harvest tencha stone-ground between granite millstones, with a smooth umami profile, and states about 30 cups per pouch. It was out of stock on the official store at the time of this update.
Matcha contains caffeine and L-theanine, and the store does publish a figure in its FAQ: about 70 mg of caffeine for 2 g of powder, with the brand advising against use under 12 years old and limiting pregnant or breastfeeding customers to one cup a day. Dose and individual sensitivity still matter, and matcha cannot guarantee sustained energy, calm concentration, or absence of a crash.
The product is labeled vegan, organic, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and imported from Japan. Buyers interested in purity can request a current lot report for pesticides, lead, cadmium, microbes, and radiation where relevant. Organic certification does not measure every contaminant.
Ube, blue powders, and infusions
PureTea sources ube from the Philippines and formulates latte powders for hot or cold drinks and recipes. Shoppers should check whether a specific blend is pure ube or contains sugar, flavoring, milk ingredients, or other additions. Purple color and anthocyanins do not turn a sweetened latte into a treatment for inflammation or blood-sugar problems.
Blue matcha commonly refers to butterfly-pea flower or another blue botanical and does not contain green-tea matcha unless stated. It is typically caffeine-free. Product names should not be used to infer ingredients.
Quality and storage
PureTea states that its products use organic crops, are blended or packed in France, and avoid artificial flavors and GMOs. It works with producers across Japan, the Philippines, India, China, and South Africa.
- Check the exact origin and organic certifier on each label.
- Keep matcha sealed, cool, dry, and protected from odors and light.
- Review flavor-specific allergens and added sugar.
- Count caffeine from every tea, coffee, and energy product.
Small-batch tasting and recyclable opaque packaging can support freshness, but they do not replace analytical testing.
How to prepare PureTea matcha
Sift 1 to 2 grams into a bowl, add about 2 ounces of water at 158 to 176°F, and whisk until evenly suspended. For a latte, add warm milk after whisking. Boiling water can increase bitterness and flatten delicate aromas.
Black tea is generally brewed hotter and longer than green tea. Follow the product instructions rather than using one temperature for the entire catalog.
PureTea price and promo code
The matcha is listed at €27 for 50 g and the Pure Ube Latte at €12. Code LMC may reduce an eligible purchase by 10%, to about €24.30 and €10.80 respectively, before shipping and currency conversion. It may not stack with bundles or another promotion.
Shipping and US availability
Orders placed before 3 p.m. on business days are shipped the same day. The store advertises free French delivery from €39, Colissimo in 48 to 72 hours, Chronopost in 24 to 48 hours and Mondial Relay in 3 to 5 days. No international rate or lead time is published: the shipping policy describes French carriers only, even though the store offers the United States as a destination and displays converted dollar prices there.
Our verdict
PureTea offers an imaginative range, clear Japanese matcha origin, organic positioning, and accessible French pricing. Its main limitations for US readers are cross-border uncertainty, occasional stock issues, and marketing claims stronger than the published product testing. It is best judged as premium tea and culinary powder, not a supplement treatment. Flavor preferences, preparation style, and freshness will shape value more than wellness promises.
